Production
Sugar refining is one of the oldest and most important spheres of food industry in Ukraine.
42 plants produce over 2 mln tons of sugar per year. Domestic consumption makes up to 1,5 mln tons. The rest is designated for export. Sugar production is mostly developed in Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsya, Ternopil, Lviv, Poltava, Kyiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
Due to the producers’ efforts the up-to-date technologies are implemented, which results in significant growth of production, efficiency and crop yield of sugar beets.
Ukraine is retrieving its leadership in terms of sugar production and exporting. At least 3 more plants can start running in 2018. The producers have new ambitious task set – to reach the volumes of 1 mln tons of sugar for export.
А`SPIK Group key business directions are sugar production and crop farming: sugar beet, grains, soybeans, corn. “Starokostiantynivtsukor” LLC and “Shepetivskyi Sugar Mill” PrJSC specialize in sugar beet processing, sugar production, molasses and granulated pulp production.
Granulated beet pulp is beet chaff, feed waste product of sugar production. It is used for animal feed. This product has long shelf live and due to this is very popular in animal farming. Granulated dried pulp is cylinders 10 mm in diameter of gray-green colour, containing 88% of dry solid content.
Molasses is byproduct of sugar production. It is thick creamy liquid of brown colour which is obtained in the process of sugar beet and sugar cane processing. It's waste product of sugar production.
